Presentation
Intermittent abdominal discomfort, with 2 days of increasing pain in central and lower abdomen.
Patient Data
Normal cecum, terminal ileum and appendix. Blind-ending tubular structure arising from mind small bowel, with focal inflammation at its neck and of the small bowel it is arising from. No free fluid or free air, no collections. Appearances consistent with Meckel diverticulitis, with inflammation centered on the neck of the diverticulum rather than the body and tip.
Case Discussion
This is a typical location of a Meckel diverticulum, with the inflammation at the neck of the diverticulum leading to focal thickening here and the small bowel it is arising from. Due to an uneventful clinical recovery with conservative management, surgery was not performed.
