Meckel's diverticulitis

Presentation

The patient admitted with right lower quadrant pain.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female
Ultrasound

Serial ultrasound images show inflamated ileal segments. Meckel's diverticulum can be seen due to bowel edema. There is minimal fluid between bowel segments.

CT

Serial CT images show inflamated ileal segments. Meckel's diverticulum can be seen due to bowel edema. There is minimal fluid between bowel segments.

Case Discussion

Meckel's diverticulum is the most common congenital anomaly of the small intestine, which is located on the antimesenteric border of the ileum. Diagnosis by ultrasound or CT is very difficult unless complicated.
