Patient Data

Age: 8 years
Gender: Female

The medial epicondyle is avulsed and is severely medially displaced. Marked posteromedial soft tissue swelling.

Fluoroscopy

Intra-operative image intensifier shows treatment with internal fixation with a single screw.

Case Discussion

Medial epicondyle fractures are the most common elbow avulsion injuries in children. Careful consideration of the other ossifications should be performed, the trochlear ossification center is difficult to see on the x-ray but clearly present on the CT.
