Medial meniscus tear

Presentation

Knee twisting injury with severe pain and clicking. Orthopedic examination showed positive McMurray test.

Patient Data

Age: 40
Gender: Male
MRI

Truncation of the medial meniscus.

Radial tear of the posterior root attachment of the medial meniscus.

Medial femoral condyle osteochondral lesion (flattening of the articular surface, subcortical marrow edema).

Diffuse thickening and increased signal intensity of the anterior cruciate ligament with no course discontinuity. 

Large joint effusion.

Case Discussion

The case demonstrates complex knee injury:

Radial tears of the body and posterior root of the medial meniscus

Stage II osteochondral lesion of the medial femoral condyle

Sprain of the anterior cruciate ligament
