Patient Data

Age: 24
Gender: Male

Comminuted fracture of the medial tibial plateau is evident with some depression and separation at the fracture site of 1.3 cm.

A lipohaemarthrosis is noted.

Comminuted medial tibial plateau fracture involving the medial tibial spine has an articular surface step of up to 2.8 cm. Associated lipohaemarthrosis and soft tissue oedema.

Case Discussion

The presence of lipohaemarthrosis is a strong indicator for an intra-articular fracture.
