Fall. Knee pain.

Age: 80 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Medial tibial plateau fracture. Alignment is within normal limits.

Medial tibial plateau fracture with minimal depression. Background of degenerative change most severe at the lateral tibiofemoral compartment. The bones are osteopaenic. Small joint effusion.

Case Discussion

Tibial plateau fractures are usually the result of high energy trauma, although in the elderly they can be from much lower energy injuries.
