Presentation
Wrist pain, no trauma.
Patient Data
CASE OF THE MONTH: This case was selected as the Case of the Month for June 2024.

Eccentric well-defined lesion involving the lateral aspect of the distal radius. It displays low signal on all pulse sequences with a rim of high signal on the PD FS images. No soft tissue component.

On CT, the lesion is densely sclerotic with a narrow zone of transition. There is associated periosteal cortical thickening. No pathological fractures seen.
Case Discussion
The lesion was biopsied and histopathological analysis confirmed the diagnosis of melorheostosis.
Melorheostosis, also known as Leri disease, is an uncommon mesenchymal dysplasia manifesting as regions of sclerosing bone with a characteristic dripping wax appearance (a.k.a. flowing candle wax appearance).
