Case Discussion

Flax meningioma with high T2 signal.

Final Diagnosis: 

Brain, falx: Meningioma.

Clinical History:

Progressive (L) hemiparesis in a 55 year old male.

Gross Description:

The specimen consists of multiple fragments of tissue aggregating to approximately 4 x 3 x 2 cm. Some fragments of tissue show severe cautery. The larger fragment of tissue shows characteristic features of meningioma with bosselated external surface and tan, firm cut surface.

Microscopic Description: 

Sections show a meningioma displaying a sheeting pattern. Mitotic activity is not elevated. Areas of tumor necrosis are not seen. Macronucleoli are not evident.
