Meningioma - temporal

Presentation

Headaches in a patient known for multiple myeloma. The brain MRI was performed after an MRI of the spine with contrast (not shown).

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Female

Ovoid well-defined vividly enhancing extra-axial mass of left temporal location with a broad-based attachment to the anterior margin of the tentorium cerebelli with a "dural tail sign". Surrounding vasogenic edema extending to the parietal lobe as well as the internal and external capsules with moderate mass effect on the midline structures and effacement of the adjacent cortical sulci.

Small vessel ischemic changes are noted.

Numerous small enhancing lesions of the diploe well-demonstrated on enhanced T1 and FLAIR sequences (known for multiple myeloma).

Case Discussion

MRI features most consistent with temporal meningioma with a broad-based attachment to the tentorium cerebelli in a patient known for multiple myeloma.
