Meniscal bucket handle tear (flipped meniscus)

19 years old patient presenting with knee pain following vigorous exercise.

Patient Data

Age: 19 years
Gender: Male
  •  The posterior horn and body of the medial meniscus are attenuated showing diffuse intra-substance areas of high signal extending to menisco-capsular attachment and inferior articular surface (Bucket-handle tear) with displacement of the torn fragment anteriorly & medially within the intercondylar notch.
  • Medial collateral ligament periligamentous edema is noted.
  • Moderate amount of knee joint effusion is noted, associated with mutli- locular localized synovial fluid collection in gastrocnemius/semimembranosus bursa.
