Age: 52
Gender: Female

Edema seen at medial meniscal attachment anterior to PCL. The next section shows a "ghost meniscus"(red arrow) in posterior horn with an anteriorly displaced fragment (blue arrow)

Case Discussion

Avulsions or tears of the meniscal root are uncommon, occurring in 2.2%-9.8% of patients undergoing MRI of the knee.

Important to recognize these as incidence of secondary OA is high.
