Smudging of the fat planes is seen surrounding the superior mesenteric vessels and their branches within the root of the small bowel mesentery, accompanied by several prominent mesenteric lymph- nodes.
The prostate gland is mildly enlarged.
Case Discussion
Features on CT scan are most consistent with mesenteric panniculitis, which is an uncommon idiopathic disorder characterized by chronic non-specific inflammation involving the adipose tissue of the bowel mesentery.
