Metacarpal fracture

The patient is complaining of pain in the right hand after a history of being hit by steel at work today, on examination: tenderness and swelling right hand over the 3rd metacarpal base.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

A fracture line at the base of the 3rd metacarpal bone is clearly seen on the oblique view.      

Case Discussion

This type of non-displaced fracture needs only a splint.
