Metachronous brain infarctions in ICA stenosis

Deterioration of neurologic symptoms after a right hemispheral stroke, Known right ICA stenosis.

Patient Data

Age: 70
Gender: Female

Encephalomalacia and gliosis from an old infarction in the right MCA territory. DWI shows an additional, more recent subcortical infarction. Lower flow signal in the right ICA and MCA.

Case Discussion

Metachronous infarctions probably resulting from carotid plaque embolism.
