Presentation
History of metal fragment penetrating injury to right mid-third thigh region two weeks prior to the presentation. Presented with non-healing wound locally.
Patient Data
There is a hypoechoic short oblique track from the skin to a deeper half of the subcutaneous plane. The track length is about 12 mm. There is an echogenic focus ( 5 mm ) at the deeper end of the track which causing posterior acoustic shadow and twinkle artifacts. It is a foreign body. There is inflamed surrounding subcutaneous fat without granuloma formation. Underlying muscle is normal.

Case Discussion
The case shows a metal foreign body in the soft tissue of the thigh. Ultrasound artifacts caused by the foreign body are demonstrated in vivo and in vitro.
