Metastatic melanoma to lungs (cavitating)

Case contributed by Assoc Prof Frank Gaillard

Patient Data

Age: Adult

CT chest

Selected images from a CT of the chest demonstrate a number of parenchymal and pleural masses consistent with the patient's known metastatic malignant melanoma. The largest mass on the right demonstrates marked cavitation.

Case Discussion

There are many causes of a pulmonary mass with cavitation which can conveniently be recalled using the mnemonic CAVITY
