Known neck squamous cell carcinoma, now large right axillary mass

Patient Data

Age: 90 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Large hypoechoic solid mass in right axilla.

Nuclear medicine

FDG PET-CT performed to stage the malignancy

Isolated right axillary lymph node that is FDG avid corresponding to the ultrasound abnormality. Note artifact on the PET scan that originates in the right anterior chest wall pacemaker.

Case Discussion

Lymph node mass was biopsied under ultrasound control and pathology reported as metastatic squamous cell carcinoma.
