Abdominopelvic pain.
Patient Data
The liver is enlarged and contains multiple hypodense masses which show arterial phase hyperenhancement with delayed washout after contrast injection, the largest one is 76 mm.
A 40 mm enhancing mass is noted at middle part of mesentery which contain a small focus of calcification and causes surrounding small bowel retraction.
There is a 46 mm multilocular cyst at right adnexa.
Some ascitis is noted at pelvic cavity.
Case Discussion
Mesenteric mass; pathology proven carcinoid tumor with hepatic hypervascular metastasis.
Carcinoid tumor is a type of neuroendocrine tumor that can occur in a number of locations. Gastrointestinal tract, particularly small bowel, mostly terminal ileum is the common site of carcinoid tumors.
