Microtia - bilateral

Presentation

Patient presenting with bilateral hearing loss.

Patient Data

Age: 18 years
Gender: Male
CT

The pinna are small bilaterally. The external auditory canal (the bony and cartilaginous parts) is not visualized bilaterally. The tympanic membranes cannot be identified.

There is fusion of left malleus and incus.

The mastoid air cells are not pneumatized.

The inner ear structures appear normal bilaterally.

Mucosal thickening of both maxillary sinuses is noted.

Case Discussion

Microtia is a congenital disorder characterized by small-sized pinna, which is usually associated with external, middle and inner ear abnormalities.
