Age: 65
Gender: Female

Transverse midshaft humeral fracture with medial displacement and anteromedial angulation of the distal fracture fragment. Minimal impaction. 

Case Discussion

Key learning points:

  • when describing fractures the following should be actively assessed for:
    • bone(s) involved and specific part
    • type of fracture, e.g. complete vs. incomplete
    • morphology of fracture
      • e.g. transverse, oblique, spiral, etc
      • any comminution
    • comment on displacement, angulation and impaction
