Case Discussion

Migration of an intrauterine device is rare and most often asymptomatic and incidentally discovered. The diagnostic delay can be a few years (in cases secondary to a "Lippes loop" implant, the delay in diagnosis could be up to 50 years!)

The most common mechanism for an intra-abdominal IUP is uterine perforation during placement, however progressive myometrial erosion is also possible.
