Migration of intrauterine device

Bleeding per vaginum. Referred for abdomen radiograph to locate IUD.

Patient Data

Age: about 25 yrs
Gender: Female



USG was done for better localization of IUD. To check relation to uterus and adnexa.

Radiograph - IUD present in pelvic with definite abnormal orientation.

US - Single early live intrauterine pregnency of 6 wks. Subchorionic collection present. Echogenic foci in subchorionic collection are probably air foci.

Linear echogenic structure ( IUD ) is noted cranial to right tubo-ovarian complex.

Case Discussion

Surgery was done for removal of IUD.

Uterine perforation could not be seen.
