Miliary tuberculosis

Presentation

The patient is a 54 year old malnourished homeless male who presented with fevers, chills, and a productive cough. He was unable to provide a detailed history as he was altered on admission.

Gender: Male
X-ray

Diffuse reticulonodular opacities bilaterally, suggesting a disseminated infectious etiology.

CT

Cross-sectional imaging confirmed countless 1-2 mm nodules throughout both lungs.  

Case Discussion

Sputum samples were obtained and were highly positive for acid fast bacilli.
