Presentation
Acute ischemic stroke
Patient Data
The nasogastric tube is seen within the left main bronchus and removal/repositioning is required. No focal consolidation and no pneumothorax.
Calcific nodule is seen in the right upper paratracheal region possibly thyroid calcific nodule.
The tip of the nasogastric tube is located within the stomach projection. Ill-defined opacities in the right mid/lower zone likely due to aspiration or infection.
Case Discussion
The ideal position of a nasogastric tube should be in the sub-diaphragmatic position in the stomach. Ideally it should be at least 10 cm beyond the gastro-esophageal junction 1.
