The tip of the nasogastric tube is in the left lower lobe, which needs to be removed. Small left pleural effusion and adjacent atelectasis. The right lung is clear, no right pleural effusion.
Case Discussion
Misplaced nasogastric tubes (NGT) and their subsequent use can have devastating consequences. Following the course of the trachea and ensuring the NGT tip is below the diagram should be part of the review process when reporting such studies.
