Misplaced urinary catheter

Case contributed by Dr Jeremy Jones

Generalised abdominal pain.

Case Discussion

The catheter is malplaced and its balloon is inflated in the proximal urethra.  The bladder is distended and not draining.  While there is some mild distension of the renal pelvis, no obstruction.
