Prior cardiac valve surgery. Shortness of breath.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

Mitral valve replacement.

Mild cardiomegaly.

Upper lobe venous distension in keeping with pulmonary venous hypertension.

Case Discussion

These are the typical appearances of a metallic mitral valve replacement.

The left paramedian position, relatively large diameter valve and orientation of the valve are all consistent with a mitral valve.
