Presentation
Known Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Incidental finding on initial staging CT.
Patient Data
Exophytic, heterogeneous right renal lesion is identified. There is cortical disruption and extension into the posterior pararenal space.
No lymphadenopathy within the abdomen or pelvis.
Heterogeneously hypoechoic 60mm lesion in the right kidney was biopsied.
Case Discussion
Histology revealed features consistent with Mixed epithelial and stromal tumor (MEST) of the kidney, which is an uncommon and recently recognized distinct neoplasm that should be distinguished from other renal neoplasms.
It is typically seen as a multiloculated cystic renal mass with a variable proportion of solid and cystic components and containing internal septa. The latter may demonstrate heterogeneous and delayed contrast material enhancement.
