A tubular anechoic subcutaneous structure with echogenic content (representing blood clot) is seen at 7 o'clock, areolar margin position of the left breast. Doppler images (not shown here) revealed no flow inside. There are associated mild inflammatory changes of the surrounding tissues in the form of mild increased thickness of the overlying skin.
Case Discussion
Mondor disease is a rare benign self-limiting breast condition characterized by thrombophlebitis of the subcutaneous veins of the breast and anterior chest wall. It can also occur in the dorsal veins of the penis.
