Presentation
Sustained a fall and hit the left elbow.
Patient Data
- The displaced, angulated fracture of the proximal ulna is easily seen.
- The radial head is dislocated posteriorly, hence this fracture-dislocation falls into the Bado II category.
- The minimally displaced and depressed intraarticular fracture of the radial head requires a more careful look (see magnified and annotated image).
Annotated image demonstrating the depressed fracture of the radial head, with a fracture line reaching the articular surface.
Case Discussion
This is somewhat less common form of the Monteggia fracture-dislocation, which was further complicated by an accompanying radial head fracture.
