Presentation

Sustained a fall and hit the left elbow.

Patient Data

Age: 65
Gender: Female
x-ray

- The displaced, angulated fracture of the proximal ulna is easily seen.

- The radial head is dislocated posteriorly, hence this fracture-dislocation falls into the Bado II category.

- The minimally displaced and depressed intraarticular fracture of the radial head requires a more careful look (see magnified and annotated image).

Case Discussion

This is somewhat less common form of the Monteggia fracture-dislocation, which was further complicated by an accompanying radial head fracture.
