There is an anechoic lesion in subcutaneous plane of proximal - mid - distal thigh on lateral aspect. It starts near to greater trochanter, but does not abut it. Echoes are noted within. Lesion is compressible. There is early thin wall / capsule ( <1 mm ) around part of the lesion. No flow is noted in wall. There are a few septa in lesion.

Approximate size:

  • Craniocaudal - 24 cm
  • Transverse - 0.6 cm

Perilesional fat is echogenic.

Morphologically similar but smaller lesion (3 x 2 x 1 cm) is seen in mid lateral thigh; superficial to above mentioned larger lesion.

Case Discussion

Findings of Morel-Lavallée lesion, which is a closed degloving injury associated with trauma that then presents as a hemolymphatic mass.
