Presentation

Acute intestinal obstruction.

Patient Data

Age: 5 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Multiple air filled structures seen in the lower chest and to the right of the cardiac borders.

Lateral film revealed that the lesion is located just behind the sternum and there is communication with the intra-abdominal bowel.

The stomach is normally seen at the left upper quadrant. 

Barium

Free flow of the contrast through the rectum ,the segmoid and part of the descending colon with cessation of the contrast at the level of the diaphragmatic defect.  

Case Discussion

Urgent laparotomy was done and  strangulated Morgagni hernia was confirmed containing transverse colon and part of the descending colon .
