Side view of a morning glory flower. The narrow base is said to be reminiscent of the volume-depleted appearance of the midbrain on axial images in patients with progressive supranuclear palsy.
Case Discussion
The morning glory sign describes the atrophic appearance of the midbrain and should not be confused with the same flower seen from above, which is used to describe the fundoscopic appearance in morning glory syndrome.
