Morphological classification of sacrococcygeal teratomas (American Academy of Pediatrics Surgery Section Survey):
type 1: entirely extra-fetal, with or without a small presacral component (accounts for the majority of cases)
type 2: extra-fetal with intrapelvic extension
type 3: extra-fetal with extension through the pelvis into the abdomen
type 4: entirely intra-fetal without any external component
