Movement artifact simulating sternal fracture

Apparent step in the anterior and posterior cortex of the upper sternal body which could be confused for a fracture however the same step is seen at the skin surface at regular intervals (better appreciated as you scroll away from the midline). This is motion artifact.
Case Discussion
If you see a cortical step in the sternum on sagittal images always run your eye along the anterior chest skin surface to make sure there are no steps there to indicate motion artifact. This patient did not have a sternal fracture.
