- significant mural thickening with heterogeneous enhancement and multiple focal calcifications involving the rectum and anal canal with obliteration of the rectal lumen
- multiple enlarged lymph nodes in the perirectal fat and along the bilateral internal iliac lymphatic chains
Case Discussion
Mucinous rectal adenocarcinoma is a distinct pathologic subtype of rectal cancer with poor outcome. The typical CT features are intratumoral calcification, heterogeneous contrast enhancement, and predominantly hypoattenuation.
This is a biopsy-proven case of rectal mucinous adenocarcinoma.
