Mucocele - frontoethmoidal

Presentation

Right-sided proptosis. History of paranasal sinus surgery 2 years ago.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female
mri

Right frontoethmoidal mucocele of low signal intensity on T1WI, and FLAIR and high signal intensity on T2WI with areas of low signal (protein-rich content). There is expansile thinning of the lamina papyracea, compressing and displacing laterally the extrinsic occular muscles and globe, with resultant non-axial proptosis grade I.

Mucosal thickening of both maxillary sinuses and opacification of the ethmoid cells, frontal and sphenoid sinuses.

Status post-antrostomy of the maxillary sinuses.
