Cirrhotic liver with multiple right lobe focal masses which meet the criteria of malignant hepatoma with arterial hyperenhancement and washout on venous and delayed phase imaging.
Moderate amount of abdominal ascites.
Filling defects of the main portal vein and its branches.
Multiple lymph nodes in the porta hepatis region are noted as well.
Case Discussion
Thrombosis of the portal vein is a known complication of hepatocellular carcinoma and can be classified into:
- type A: the main portal vein is thrombosed
- type B: right or left main branch thrombosis
- type C: the second- or lower-order portal vein branches are thrombosed
