Presentation

History of previous breast reduction surgery presents with a palpable mass in the left axillary tail

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

MLO view left breast shows multifocal masses with spiculated margins in the axillary tail.

Central lineal density representing surgical scar of previous surgery.

High riding nipple.

Case Discussion

1. The fat necrosis centrally related to previous breast reduction surgery. The "bubbly lucencies are typical of fat necrosis post surgery.

2. The multifocal tumors in the axillary tail confirmed as IDC on ultrasound guided biopsy.

3. The high riding nipple is typical of the nipple position on a reduced breast. It can sometimes be the only imaging clue that the breast has been reduced.
