Multiple biliary hamartomas (von Meyenburg complex)

Presentation

Jaundice.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

Innumerable variablly sized and shaped T2W hyperintense cystic lesions in both hepatic lobes with no obvious communication with the biliary tract.

Mildly prominent CBD.

Bilateral renal cortical cysts.

Case Discussion

Biliary hamartomas are composed of small disorganized clusters of dilated cystic bile ducts lined by a single layer of cuboidal cells and surrounded by an abundant fibrocollagenous stroma. Although they may communicate with the biliary tree, they generally do not.
