Multiple liver haemangiomas

Case contributed by Dr Hidayatullah Hamidi

Ultrasonography revealed multiple liver lesions.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

Multiple ill defined, hypodense lesions scattered throughout the liver. The largest in segment VIII is 5.6cm x 6.5cm.

These lesion show early peripheral nodular discontinuous enhancement on the arterial phase and subsequent centripetal filling on the porto-venous and delayed phases of contrast injection. Enhancing portion of the lesions is similar to the aorta in almost all phases.

Some non-enhancing areas are seen even on delayed images which likely represents slow filling sinusoids.

Case Discussion

The imaging features are corresponding to benign vascular hepatic lesions most likely hemangiomas
