Multiple myeloma

A lytic lesion in the frontal bone with cortical destruction and soft tissue component extending into the scalp, extradural space and into the frontal sinus.
The patient had a spinal screening which revealed multiple lytic lesions in vertebrae (not shown here).
Incidental right side concha bullosa.
Case Discussion
A skull mass such as this has a limited differential including:
- metastasis
- multiple myeloma
- primary osseous tumor (e.g. osteosarcoma)
- dural tumor (e.g. meningioma or hemangiopericytoma)
In this instance, it was pathologically proven to be multiple myeloma.
