Case Discussion

This patient has a known diagnosis of multiple myeloma. They nonetheless went on to a fine needle aspiration biopsy.

The FNA contains numerous atypical plasma cells with prominent nucleoli, occasional binucleation, and occasional mitotic figures including atypical forms. There is no lymphoid component to suggest that this is a lymphoma with plasmacytic differentiation. Given the patient's past history of myeloma, the findings are that of a plasmacytoma representing recurrence of her disease.

Final Diagnosis: Plasmacytoma
