Multiple sclerosis

The patient was referred for follow up evaluation of a disease diagnosed for several years.

Patient Data

Gender: Female

There are multiple white matter T2/FLAIR hyperintense lesions in the supratentiorial area, midbrain and pons bilaterally. Some lesions are oriented perpendicular to the ventricles. No abnormal enhancement is seen. 

Case Discussion

Multiple sclerosis is an idiopathic form of white matter demyelination. The lesions may be scattered through supra and infratentorial white matter, pons, midbrain and spinal cord.

Septocallosal lesions are considered typical for the disease. Spinal cord may also be involved.
