Widespread T2 white matter regions of hyperintensity are present including some which demonstrate enhancement. Many have a characteristic periventricular distribution (Dawson's fingers).

Typical appearances of active multiple sclerosis, with this single study satisfying both dissemination in time and dissemination in space components of the revised (2010) McDonald's criteria for MS.
