The multiple bulges/swellings pointed out by the patient are muscle hernias through fascial defects The herniae are compressible/reducible. The underlying muscles show normal echo pattern. One hernia shows the presence of an associated perforating vessel. There are three hernias in the right leg on the anterolateral side; measuring about 7 x 5 mm, 12 x 6 mm, 7 x 5 mm. There are two hernias in the left leg anterolateral side; measuring about 14 x 9 mm, 7 x 3 mm.
Case Discussion
The patient presented with a history of multiple bulges in both legs after walking. The history itself raises a possibility of the lesions being muscle hernia. The ultrasound confirmed multiple muscle hernia involving both legs.
