Presentation

Unspecific abdominal pain. No specific muscular problems reported. No history of trauma or inflammation.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

Ubiquitous streaky enhancement and restricted diffusion of skeletal muscle, only moderate T2 signal increase, often referred to as "stars-and-stripes" pattern. Known sarcoidosis (pulmonary, no current chest radiograph available in our institute). Musculoskeletal biopsy verified diagnosis of muscular manifestation of sarcoidosis.

Case Discussion

Patient presented with no muscular pain but diffuse abdominal symptoms, sarcoidosis of the lung established previously. Muscular signal alterations and streaky enhancement found in all muscle areas imaged. Biopsy verified diagnosis of muscular manifestation of sarcoidosis.
