Oval-shaped lesion within the  subcutaneous fat at the anterior aspect of the distal left thigh located in the interface between the subcutaneous fat planes and  external muscle fascia measuring 3 x 2.3 x 4 cm. It causes mass effect  and compression on the vastus medialis muscle showing T1 hypointense  signal and T2 hyperintense signal and postcontrast enhancement. Focal  central area of nonenhancement is noted probably representing necrotic  or cystic portion.

Case Discussion

Excisional biopsy of the mass was performed, with positive margins. Re-resection was performed with tumor free margins.

Pathology from excisional biopsy of this left thigh lesion demonstrated: myxofibrosarcoma (myxoid malignant fibrous histiocytoma).
