Progressive painless swelling of the anteromedial aspect of the left elbow.
Patient Data
Large relatively well-circumscribed lobulated soft tissue mass of the anteromedial aspect of the left elbow of subaponeurotic location. It appears iso-to slightly hyperintense to muscles on T1, hyperintense on T2 and STIR with vivid heterogeneous enhancement on post-contrast sequences. There is infiltration of the triceps brachii, brachioradialis and the extensor carpi radialis longus muscles with encasement of the median and ulnar nerves as well as the brachial artery which is displaced anteromedially.
Case Discussion
MRI features of a large soft tissue mass of the left elbow, histologically proven as a myxoid liposarcoma.
Myxoid liposarcoma is a malignant tumor of adipose tissue arising from the intermuscular fascial planes or deep-seated areas. It is the second most common subtype of liposarcoma, representing 30-40% of all liposarcomas in the extremities.
