Lower limb weakness and low back pain.
Patient Data
A well-circumscribed expansile mixed-signal intensity eccentric intramedullary lesion having solid and cystic components is seen at conus medullaris (D12-L1 level) measuring about 40 x 14 x 14 mm. The lesion has a linear T2WI hypointense component. Moderate enhancement of solid components is seen in post-contrast images.
Syrinx is seen at the lower dorsal level.
Case Discussion
Myxopapillary ependymoma is a distinct type of spinal cord ependymoma that usually involves the conus medullaris and cauda equina. It is a benign neoplasm and is classified as a grade 2 tumor in the WHO classification.
